Jharkhand is all set to witness the first libertarian knock. The State Assembly ground would witnesses a crowd from all over the State on Friday – demanding equal right of education for their children.
School Choice Campaign, an endeavour of Centre for Civil Society, after covering 18 blocks in 6 districts is all set to capture the policymakers of Jharkhand. The campaign, first of its kind in the state demands equal right of education for the poor and the deprived.
“When we talk about Right to Education - it's not just departing education but it’s about quality education. The poor students too have right to go into the good private schools if the government school in their area is not up to mark. We demand that the government should pay the fees in form of vouchers if a child wants to go in a private school,” Parth J Shah, National Campaign Coordinator said.
The fact was well substantiated by Baishali Bomjan, Manager, PR and Communication. “In Jharkhand the Government spends around Rs.800 to Rs. 900 per child per month in the government schools. However, if the same amount is given as vouchers to the students they can study in the best schools in Jharkhand,” Bomjan added.
Sharing the outreach of the campaign, Baladevan Rangaraju, Associate Director, of the campaign said that during the campaign 3, 18,000 people were directly contacted and 3, 08,700 were collected signatures collected. “ Besides 109 community level parents meetings, 69 block level meetings/ workshops/seminars, and 25 district level workshops/seminars also been conducted by now. 50 delegations of ours’ have met the people’s representatives (MLA, MPs),” he claimed
Around 3000 supporters of the School Choice Campaign would gather tomorrow demanding the Equal Right to Education from the Education Minister Bandhu Tirkey, who would be present on this occasion.
