The gory war between the infamous rural gangsters Jainath Sahu, sumpremo of Samrath gang and Dinesh Gope, Supremo of the Jharkhand Liberation Tigers (JLT), has taken much more ugly shape in at least four of the districts of Jharkhand--Ranchi, Khunti, Simdega and Gumla. Besides, the entry of the CPI (Maoist) in the game has made the gangwar even more gruesome.
For, the members of the three rival gangs, which are on a gory war for around last six years, have started killing friends and family members of their counterparts or the people they believed anyway as to be empathisers of their rival gangs.
The outfit, which recently changed its name as People Liberation Front of India (PLFI) joining hands with some gangs of criminals at Chattisgarh and Orissa districts, continues to lay terror plots in Khunti, Simdega, Gumla and Ranchi districts of Jharkhand under leadership of notorious Dinesh Gope while waging a two front war of domination; one with its rival gang of notorious Jainath Sahu and other CPI (Maoist).
If figures of death could be a yardstick, more than 90 persons have so far been killed in the ongoing gangwar at Ranchi, Simdega, Gumla and Khunti since 2007-08. Police officers posted in the operational areas of the two gangs estimate that at least 3/4rt persons, killed in the gangwar, were either relatives or friends of the members of the two rival gangs. The shift in the war pattern of the two gangs gained pace in 2007.
According to police, the two gangs have been fighting for domination over collection of levy from the rural areas of Ranchi and its adjoining districts. These gangs collect levy from contractors, forest mafias, shakarkand traders, lah trader other businessmen. Each of the two gangsters has more than 60 associates with sophisticated weapons. According to sources, Jainath Sahu possesses one AK-47 rifle.
It is largely believed in the official circle that Tileshwar Sahu, a contractor, is an empathiser of infamous gangster Jainath Sahu. And for that, Tileshwar has been on the target of the JLT since the latter’s Supermo Dinesh Gope formed his gang to take revenge of his elder brother’s murder with Jainath around six years ago. Although, Tileshwar refuses to accept his connection with Jainath Sahu gang, he dose not deny that JLT has him in its target believing him to be a close empathiser of Jainath.
Khunti SP Prabhat Kumar too expressed similar views and claimed intelligence leak. “These gangs have each and every information about the movement and the operations of the police while we receive very less information about them,” he said. “We are, however, working day and night to control the situation,” he added.
SSP Ranchi, MS Bhatia however felt that district police have comparatively curbed the menace of the two gangs in the rural Ranchi the past few months by arresting and killing several members of the two gangs. “However, the problem continues to persists as more and more people are joining the gangs in greed of money and muscle power,” Bhatia added.
“We have strengthened our vigilance in the affected areas. We also carryout inter-district operations against the two gangs on receiving information about them,” Bhatia added.
